By accessing, browsing, or utilizing any feature on AutoVinWise (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, along with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Permitted Use & Bulk Decoding

You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use our utilities strictly for lawful automotive research. Permitted uses include:

• Decoding individual or batch vehicle identification numbers for pre-purchase evaluation.
• Auditing commercial, municipal, or auction vehicle fleets.
• Exporting decoded vehicle specification reports in CSV format.
• Conducting academic, educational, or automotive mechanical research.

3. Zero Cost & No Payment Processing

AutoVinWise is strictly an open, 100% free public service. The Service does not assess fees, collect credit card numbers, maintain payment gateways, or sell paid vehicle history reports. Any representation by third parties (including prospective buyers on online marketplaces) that payment is required on or for AutoVinWise is fraudulent. See our Consumer Advisory for details.

4. Prohibited Conduct & Fair Use

To preserve service stability and respect federal government API endpoints (NHTSA vPIC), you agree not to:

• Deploy automated bots, spiders, or flood scripts that execute hundreds of concurrent requests per second.
• Attempt to bypass client-side rate limiters or security safeguards.
• Use the Service for fraudulent vehicle cloning, counterfeit VIN plate generation, or title-washing activities.
• Frame, mirror, or repackage the Service into a paid commercial wrapper without explicit written authorization.

5. Intellectual Property & Trademarks

All original website design, source code, visual components, algorithms, and editorial articles are the property of AutoVinWise.

Automobile brand names, emblems, and model designations (including but not limited to Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, and others) are registered trademarks of their respective manufacturers. Their display on AutoVinWise serves strictly nominative, descriptive, and identification purposes under fair use doctrine.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED ARE FURNISHED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. AUTOVINWISE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL AUTOVINWISE, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR OPERATORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THIS SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON SPECIFICATIONS DERIVED FROM PUBLIC GOVERNMENT DATABASES.

8. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with standard international internet regulations and applicable state laws, without giving effect to conflict of laws principles.
